Microsoft Silverlight Vs. Adobe Flash Fight For Market Share

NBC’s use of Microsoft’s Silverlight video format for its Internet sites during the Olympics demonstrated the viability of Silverlight on the biggest worldwide stage and it served notice to Adobe that the fight is really about to heat up for the supremacy of video software formats and who will rule the day. However, Microsoft has already dusted off its playbook of using its money to buy its way in and force the public to get the Silverlight format if one wants to see Olympic video online or most recently the Democratic National Convention. It is a powerplay worthy of the big boys, and it will be interesting to see the Adobe response. I could see them partnering with Google to do it, so stay tuned.
